Pioneer Inno XM2go Portable Satellite Radio/MP3 Player (Pink)

Amazon.com Review
The original lineup of XM2Go products (the MyFi, Tao, and Airware) were the first attempt from either XM or Sirius at providing a truly portable satellite radio receiver. As first-generation products, they offered such tantalizing features as a built-in antenna for receiving live XM broadcasts on the go and the ability to record content for playback later. But, like many first-generation products, these technologies were not yet perfected. With the Inno, you can receive and play live satellite broadcasts while you’re on the go. View larger. XM radio offers an incredible selection of music, sports, talk, and more. Fast-forward a few years: the sequel–the Pioneer Inno–is a radical step forward in both performance, features, and design. (Note: Samsung’s Helix is essentially the same model with a slightly different shell.) Boasting a much smaller form factor, slick casing, color screen, and simple user interface, the Inno is the first satellite radio player to make people think twice about buying a straight-up MP3 player. That’s important because not only does the Inno receive all of XM’s great content, but it also has built-in storage for your MP3 collection. You can either record up to 50 hours of live XM content into memory, or split it for 25 hours of XM and 25 hours of your personal tunes. Having the option to load a few hundred songs is the perfect antidote for when you’re in an area where the Inno can’t receive a live signal. Having s (more…)

Pioneer DV-F727301 Disc DVD / CD / CD-R/ and RW Player

Pioneer DV-F727301 Disc DVD / CD / CD-R/ and RW Player

Amazon.com Review
The Pioneer DV-F727 is not the average, run-of-the-mill multidisc changer. Even if your audio CD and DVD collections are quite sizeable, you can stash the goods neatly inside this 301-disc capacity “media server,” then call selections up with the same ease and excitement as you would by keying an entry on a jukebox. An onscreen cataloging system helps manage your inventory, with an auto update feature that scans for new disc additions.Should your collection really bulk out, it’s even possible to double the system’s capacity by linking two DV-F727s. All the while, you’ll still maintain easy control over the whole kit ‘n caboodle via a single, fully-featured and user-friendly remote control (supplied), or using an optional, plug-in PS/2 style computer keyboard or mouse. One of the most elaborately featured DVD players we’ve ever encountered, the DV-F727 also takes care of the basics quite well–delivering pristine pictures and sound with component-video (interlace), S-Video, and composite-video outputs. Sound-wise, its optical and coaxial digital-audio outputs definitely deliver the Dolby Digital, DTS, and PCM stereo (up to 96 kHz, 24-bit) soundtracks. The player’s Burr-Brown audio digital-to-analog converter and conventional analog jacks also proved quite fine.Handy jog-shuttle dials on both the front panel and the remote make it a pleasure to manipulate the multispeed forward and reverse trick-play options.Customizable settings (more…)

Pioneer PD-F1009 301-Disc CD-File Changer

Pioneer PD-F1009 301-Disc CD-File Changer

Amazon.com Review
Pioneer’s PD-F1009 301-CD jukebox takes advantage of its megastorage capacity with fun, easy-to-use features. Be aware, however, that its tremendous conveniences comes at a small price: the PD-F1009’s sound quality, while satisfactory, does not equal that of most comparably priced single-disc or five-disc players. The PD-F1009 excels in other areas, however. In addition to its standard features (play, repeat, program, etc.), the PD-F1009 has a few that are more unusual and, it turns out, perfect for a CD jukebox. The Best Play feature lets you commit any 20 tracks to the PD-F1009’s memory. Just hit the Best button (on the remote only) while a track is playing, and the player will automatically store that track in memory. Later, when you hit Best Play, the unit plays back up to 20 tracks in sequence. (Curiously, Best Play plays tracks back in reverse order.) Another cool feature is Previous Scan, which simply plays (likewise in reverse order) the opening 10 seconds of the last 20 discs played. The PD-F1009 also lets you create up to five custom files, or groups, with no limit to the number of CDs in each file. This is a terrific way to file discs by genre or artist. In addition, the PD-F1009 is one of the few players we know of (megachanger or otherwise) that is compatible with both CD-Rs and CD-RWs–most only play CD-Rs. The PD-F1009’s CD Text feature scans and displays disc and song titles, but only if a CD is encoded with this information (mos (more…)

Pioneer PD-M426 6-Disc Magazine CD Player

Pioneer PD-M426 6-Disc Magazine CD Player

Easy to manage and outfitted with a nice array of features, the Pioneer PD-M426 CD changer stores up to six CDs at once in its removable magazine, keeping the music flowing for hours. A magazine CD changer is ideal for listeners who like to organize their music by theme or artist. All they need to do is remove one magazine and insert another whenever they want to enjoy a different genre or set of CDs (each additional magazine is sold separately). It’s a great way to downshift from upbeat dance tunes to mellow trance music while hosting a party, or to listen to a favorite artist’s entire catalogue while cleaning the house. The audio sounds smooth and precise thanks to the 1-bit digital-to-analog converter and the low-noise, low-loss laser pickup. Among the playback functions are 32-track programming, which lets the listener create a custom soundtrack (the programmed tracks even stay in the memory after the unit shuts off); random play (one or all discs); and five unique repeat modes. An added convenience derives from the Delete Program Playback function, which lets listeners delete tracks or discs that they don’t want to play without removing the CDs from the magazine. Additional features include Hi-Lite Scan, which plays roughly 10 seconds from the first track on either one or all the discs; timer playback when connected to an external timer unit; a programmable pause function (useful when recording onto a cassette); a full-function remote control; and syste (more…)

Pioneer PD-F407 25-Disc CD-File Changer

June 21st, 2009 | 10 Comments | Posted in CD Players

Pioneer PD-F407 25-Disc CD-File Changer

Keep the music playing with Pioneer’s PD-F407 25-disc CD player. The slot-loading changer helps you organize and get creative about how you listen. In addition to its standard features (play, repeat, 32-track programming), the PD-F407 has a few that are more unusual–and perfect for a CD jukebox. “Best play” is a one-touch trick that lets you commit any 15 tracks to the PD-F407’s memory. Just hit the BEST button while a track is playing and the player will automatically store that track in memory. Later, on hitting “best play,” the unit will play back all 15 tracks in sequence. Another cool feature is “previous-disc scan,” which simply plays the opening ten seconds of the last 15 discs played. The PD-F407 also lets you create up to 3 custom files, or groups, with no limit to the number of CDs in each file. This is a terrific way to file discs by genre or by favorite artist. When you hit play after having hit stop or turned the unit off, it will begin playing the last disc before shutdown. What’s more, your programmed sequences are preserved even when powering down thanks to Pioneer’s memory hold feature. Select random playback to let the player choose selections from among all 25 discs, from a single disc, or from a designated “custom” file. A “Hi-Lite” button plays a 10-second portion of the first track on each disc. There are also many variations on all of these programmable features, depending upon what mode you are using at the time.
